Erick White won the individual title to lead the Swarthmore College men's cross country team at the Bryn Mawr Invitational on Friday, Aug. 29 at Rose Tree Park. The Garnet produced the top six individual finishers in the field of 42 competitors at the non-scoring meet.
Swarthmore, which is ranked in a tie for 31st nationally by the USTFCCCA, had its top runners compete as a pack and finish within three seconds of each other. White's winning 5,000-meter time of 17:17.45 edged classmate
Jonas Oppenheimer, who finished in the runner-up spot in 17:17.79. Senior
Erik Myers was third in 17:18.15, while juniors
Spencer Friske and
Paul Green were fourth and fifth with marks of 17:19.26 and 17:19.77, respectively. Sophomore
Sid Kakkar took the sixth spot in the field by crossing the line in 17:27.63.
The Garnet will host the program's annual alumni meet on Saturday, Sept. 13 at noon on campus before competing in the Main Line Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Haverford.
