LANCASTER, Pa. –
Katie Lytle headlined a list of three Swarthmore College women's basketball players who received team All-Centennial Conference postseason recognition, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, March 4. The senior was named the Centennial Conference Player of the Year and a first team selection for the second consecutive season.
In addition to Lytle, junior
Elle Larsen made the All-Centennial Conference Second Team for the second straight year. Senior
Kayla Moritzky landed on the league's all-sportsmanship squad.
Lytle became the third player in conference history to earn multiple Player of the Year honors, joining Dickinson's Annie Guzek (1994-96) and Swarthmore alum Katie Robinson (2002-03). The senior, who registered 14 double-doubles, averaged 17.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, 2.3 assists and 0.7 blocks this season. In addition, Lytle led the league in scoring, rebounding and field goal percentage (51.4) while ranking second in steals.
A native of Harrisburg, Lytle was also named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week four times this season and was a Capital One Academic All-American last month. She finished her illustrious career ranked sixth all-time in scoring (1,382 points), third in rebounding (1,050), fourth in steals (228), fourth in blocks (85) and seventh in field goals made (495).
Larsen once again proved to be one of the top post players in the conference and finished the season averaging 16.8 points, 7.0 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game. All three marks ranked second on the team, while her scoring and rebounding numbers were fourth and ninth, respectively, in the league. Like Lytle, the Lancaster, Pa. native also eclipsed the 1,000-point plateau this winter and will enter her senior campaign with 1,101 in her career.
Moritzky, a senior tri-captain along with Larsen and Lytle, was named to the all-sportsmanship squad after averaging a league-best 5.0 assists per contest as the Garnet's starting point guard for the third straight season. Swarthmore's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Co-President also averaged six points and ended her career as the school record holder for assists with 350.
Swarthmore, which finished the 2013-14 campaign with a 13-11 overall ledger, is slated to return seven letterwinners and two starters next season.
