HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's track and field team placed eighth at the Centennial Conference Indoor Championships held at Haverford College this weekend. The Garnet finished with 23 points.
Swarthmore picked up points in the relay events on multiple fifth-place finishes.
Jason Heo '15,
Peter Sayde '17,
Zain Hannan '17 and
Gavin Fahey '14 sprinted to a season-best 4x200 relay of 1:34.38.
For the 4x800-meter relay,
Corey Branch '17,
Dan Creem '16,
Erick White '15, and
Paul Green '16 paced a 8:08.77 finish. In the distance medley relay, White,
Richard Scott '14, Branch and Green teamed for a 10:35.19 mark.
Heo recorded his personal-best 60-meter hurdle time of 9.07 to finish fifth overall. Hannan placed sixth in the 400-meter dash with his 52.38 time to pick up three points for the Garnet.
In the long jump event, Fahey recorded a personal-best leap of 5.81 meters (19' 0.75")
The Garnet had four competitors in the 3,000-meter run with sophomore
Spencer Friske leading the way with his 8:51.94 finishing time. Freshman
Sid Kakkar recorded a personal-best mark of 8:54.92, senior
Robert Fain ran to a season-best 9:01.48 finish, and Russell clocked in at 9:03.32.
Senior
Dan Kalamarides finished the mile run with a season-best time of 4:43.23, while freshman
Will Sullivan followed close behind at 4:45.53.
