CLAREMONT, Calif. – Fighting back from a 1-2 deficit after doubles action, the Swarthmore College women's tennis team (0-4) was narrowly defeated 5-4 by the University of Rochester on Wednesday, March 12 in Claremont.

Lia Carlson and freshman
Alli Wong were both double winners on the day. They paired to open the match with an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles against Christine Ho and Molly Goodman. Rochester then earned points at No. 2 and No. 3 doubles, giving them the 2-1 advantage.
Carlson dominated at No. 1 singles, blanking Dorothy Tai, 6-0, 6-0. The Rochester team followed with singles victories at No. 2 and No. 3 singles. Rochester's Molly Goodman clinched the match at No. 5 singles against freshman
Olivia Cheng by a score of 6-1, 6-3.
Wong secured her second win with a 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 4 singles, downing Zhao decisively. The Garnet's final singles point came from the No. 6 position, where senior
Brooke Wilkins battled to a three-set win against Darby McCall. Her final score was 6-2, 4-6, 10-8.
The Swarthmore women have one more match during their spring break trip in California. They will play tomorrow against Sewanee at 12:00 p.m.
