Four Women's Tennis Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Swarthmore College women's tennis team had four student-athletes selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team this week.

Erin Li, Lisa Messier, Kathleen Shiffer, and Ella Strickler all received the honor. It is the third career award for Shiffer, the second for Strickler, and the first for for Li and Messier.

To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. In addition, they had to have been in the lineup for 75 percent of an institution's days of competition (regional competition such as ITAs and non-team scored events do not count). The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.

Li earned All-Centennial First Team Singles and First Team Doubles recognition. The sophomore went 11-10 in singles action and 15-9 in doubles.

Messier garnered an All-Centennial Second Team Singles nod. She posted a 9-9 record.

Shiffer went 12-8 in doubles competition and received All-Centennial honorable mention.

Strickler was named to the All-Centennial Second Team Singles. She finished the year with a 14-2 record.
