Box Score
WESTMINSTER, Md. – In a game that featured eight ties and 10 lead changes, sophomore Lindsey Nichols scored four points in the final 1.3 seconds of regulation to help McDaniel rally to record a 51-49 victory over the Swarthmore College women's basketball team on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the Gill Center.

Trailing 47-45, McDaniel (17-5, CC 12-4) had the opportunity to tie or take the lead with just over a minute remaining. Senior Codi McMaster attempted to dribble around Elle Larsen on the right side, but the Garnet junior took a charge with exactly 60 seconds on the clock and converted a layup on the other end to put the visitors ahead by four.

Junior Chastity Hopkins later had a chance to put the game away when she went to the line with 10 seconds left and the Garnet ahead 49-47. However, both of her shots clanked off the rim and Nichols drove down the middle of the paint to tie the score with 1.3 seconds remaining.

After a Maggie O'Neil inbounds pass intended for Hopkins on the other side of the court sailed out of bounds, McDaniel got the ball back under its own hoop with a golden opportunity to score the winning basket and 1.3 ticks still on the clock. Nichols once again came through by sinking a jumper from the left corner that barely beat the buzzer and allowed the Green Terror to escape with the victory.

Swarthmore missed seven of its first eight field goal attempts and fell behind by an 8-2 score through the first six minutes of action. But the Garnet recovered and went ahead by a 12-10 score when senior Katie Lytle beat the shot clock with a jumper from the right corner.

A seesaw battle ensued for the remainder of the half, as the teams exchanged leads three more times. After McMaster nailed a jump shot to give the Green Terror a 14-12 advantage, Swarthmore rattled off six straight and went ahead 18-14 when Larsen plowed through several defenders and converted a layup. McDaniel then ended the frame on a 9-0 run to take the lead heading into the break.

Swarthmore was paced by Larsen and Lytle. Larsen had a game-high 18 points and Lytle, who was playing in her 100th career game, notched a double-double with 13 points to go along with 13 rebounds. O'Neil posted seven points, four boards and three steals in a reserve role.

McDaniel, which shot 10-for-12 from the line compared to the Garnet's 4-for-12 effort, got a team-leading 14 points from Nichols off the bench. The sophomore also recorded three steals. Steph Perez contributed a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while junior Emma Wingerd and McMaster netted 10 apiece.

Swarthmore (12-10, CC 7-9) wraps up the regular season at home, beginning with a contest against Washington College on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 6 p.m.
