Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's basketball team dropped a 68-60 decision to #12 nationally-ranked Dickinson on Saturday, Dec. 6 at Tarble Pavilion.
In a competitive game that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes, Swarthmore and Dickinson were neck-and-neck throughout the first half with neither side pulling ahead by four points. Freshman

Zack Yonda before the Red Devils went ahead for the first time when Ted Hinnenkamp hit a pair of free throws to make it 8-6 at the 13:09 mark.
Swarthmore went ahead by a 12-10 score on a good jumper by freshman
Andrew Kaufmann at the 10:32 mark and did not surrender the lead for nearly four minutes, but the visitors went on a 6-0 run to regain the advantage at 20-16 on a Chris Cox layup. Swarthmore went into the recess down just a point to one of the nation's best teams after getting a driving layup from sophomore
Chris Bourne.
The teams played a one-possession game over the first nine minutes of the second half which also had six lead changes. Walsh got the Garnet going again offensively by converting a layup on the team's first possession, and senior
Karl Barkley followed with a pair of charity shots to give the hosts a 30-27 edge.
Dickinson (6-1, CC 3-1) went up 45-41 courtesy of a Gerry Wixted layup at the 11:19 mark, making it a two-possession game for the first time since the waning minutes of the first half. Swarthmore, however, had a quick response by getting five straight points from Yonda and a 3-pointer from sophomore
Luke McCartin that put the hosts on top by a 49-47 score at 9:35.
But the Red Devils answered back by embarking on a 9-1 run and not allowing the Garnet to hit a field goal for nearly four minutes. Swarthmore came within three, which included getting two free throws from Yonda which made it 60-57, before the visitors rattled off eight straight to pull away.
Yonda led Swartthmore by scoring 14 points and grabbing six rebounds. Bourne and Barkley, contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively, while McCartin added eight points and Kaufmann finished with nine boards off the bench.
Dickinson was paced by Wixted, who finished with a game-high 18 points. Hinnenkamp netted 17, and Cox completed the game with seven points and three assists.
Swarthmore (3-4, CC 2-2), which had its three-game winning streak snapped with the loss, will look to get back on track when it hosts Widener on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m.
