SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Despite outstanding performances from seniors
Kate Wiseman and
Supriya Davis, the Swarthmore College women's swimming team fell 127-78 to Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Ware Pool.
Wiseman took first place in a close 50 freestyle race with a mark of 25.23, out-touching her opponent by less than half a second. She followed that up with a decisive victory in the 100 free, hitting the wall at 55.13. Davis, who won her trademark event, the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.04, raced along with Wiseman in the winning 400 medley relay that also included freshman
Maggie Eberts at breastroke and sophomore
Erica Flor at backstroke.
Flor, who has consistently dominated backstroke races for the Garnet, hit the wall second in a tight 200-yard race with a time of 2:14.69, just shy of the winning performance of 2:13.50 by F&M's Bridget Dromerick. Another impressive perfomance was accomplished by freshman
Ashley Hwang, who came in second place in both the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:02.19, and the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:32.92.
The Garnet are on the road next week in Glassboro, N.J., where they face non-conference rival Rowan University on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2p.m.
