Michael McVerry as well as a pair of relays were not enough as the Swarthmore College men's swimming team was dealt a 103-102 loss against Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Nov. 8 in Ware Pool.
The meet came down to the final event with the Garnet needing to take first and second place in the 400 free relay to win the meet. Sophomore

Andrew Steele registered a winning time of 3:18.45, but F&M's top relay team being anchored by Ryan Caffrey touched the wall second in 3:19.36 to clinch the victory for the Diplomats. Swarthmore freshmen

Junior
Michael McVerry and sophomore
Liam Fitzstevens each won individual events to help pace the Garnet in the losing effort. McVerry finished the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:04.91, outswimming three F&M swimmers that finished right after him. Fitzstevens was victorious in the 200 backstroke in 1:59.38 and also swam the leadoff leg for the winning 400 medley relay that finished in 3:41.32 and also included Hernandez, Wang and Steele.
Swarthmore (1-1, CC 1-1) will travel to Rowan University on Saturday, Nov. 15 at 2 p.m.
