Elle Larsen was not enough as the Swarthmore College women's basketball team fell to Ursinus by a 69-60 score on Tuesday, Nov. 25 at Helfferich Hall.
Swarthmore (1-4, CC 0-3) started the game on fire, netting nine of the first 11 points in a span of just 2:28. Freshman
Hayley Raymond converted a jumper on the Garnet's first possession, while Larsen made consecutive layups during the early stretch.
But after the visitors built up a double-digit lead at 16-6 on a Larsen jumper, Ursinus stormed back and rattled off eight straight to pull within two when Alyssa Polimeni sank one of two free throws. Polimeni later made a 3-pointer to tie the game at 20s with 8:20 on the clock, and Hannah Kelly converted two shots from the stripe to put the Bears ahead for the rest of the half.
Ursinus, which led 41-35 at the break, quickly got a 3-pointer from Polimeni to begin the second half to go ahead by nine and begin pulling away. The Bear advantage grew to as many as 16 points when Adrienne Cellucci made it 55-39 with 16:13 remaining before the Garnet started to claw their way back.
Larsen capped a streak of scoring five straight points for Swarthmore to make it 66-60 at the 1:17 mark, but that was as close as the visitors would come. The Bears made free throws down the stretch to come away with the nine-point win.
Larsen netted her career-best 30 points by shooting 11-for-23 from the field and 8-for-11 from the line to lead the way for Swarthmore. She also grabbed 14 rebounds to notch her second double-double of the season. Junior

Abbey Deckard finished with seven points and nine assists.
Ursinus (2-3, CC 1-2) was paced by Pollimeni, who led three Bears in twin figures with 15 points to go along with five assists.Gianna Powell contributed 14 points and four steals, and Caroline Shimrock finished with 13 points and eight boards.
Swarthmore will take a break for Thanksgiving and returns to the court when it visits Neumann on Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m.
