Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Senior
Emma Sindelar recorded a natural hat trick and broke another scoring record to propel the Swarthmore College women's soccer team to a 5-0 victory over Ursinus on Thursday, Oct. 16 at Clothier Field.
Swarthmore (8-4, CC 3-3), which is regionally ranked by the NSCAA, got on the board first in the 18th minute and never looked back. Sophomore
Miranda Saldivar stole the ball at midfield and sent the ball down to classmate
Hannah Lichtenstein, who evaded an Ursinus defender and unleashed a shot from the top of the box to the upper 90 of the net.
Before the end of the half, Sindelar netted her record-breaking 32nd career goal by finishing a long pass from Lichtenstein. The senior ended the evening as the school's record holder in all three major scoring categories after previously breaking the points and assists marks in a 3-0 victory over Franklin & Marshall on Sept. 20.
In the second half, Sindelar continued to shine by finding the back of the net two more times. The senior made it 3-0 in the 50th minute before completing the hat trick in the 57th to provide the Garnet with more than enough insurance. Freshman
Sarah Hancock jumped on a loose ball and scored in the 79th minute to produce the final outcome.
Reba Magier of Swarthmore turned away four shots to pick up the shutout victory, while sophomore Courtney Sullivan made one save for Ursinus (5-6-2, CC 3-2-2) in the losing effort
Swarthmore continues a three-game homestand when it hosts McDaniel on Saturday, Oct. 18 at 4 p.m.
