Karl Barkley poured in 21 as the Swarthmore College men's basketball team wrapped up non-conference play with a 76-50 victory over Gallaudet on Sunday, Jan. 5 at the Field House.

Luke McCartin, who had a career-high six assists, gave the Garnet a 12-10 advantage and their first lead of the game at the 12:44 mark.
After junior Anton Jackson converted a layup to create the fourth deadlock at 21s, Swarthmore came out of a timeout on fire and went on a 15-4 run that was propelled by senior
Jay Kober and Loeffler. Sophomore
Sean Thaxter started the stretch by converting a layup before setting up two Loeffler 3-point field goals to catapult the Garnet ahead by a 36-25 score. Kober contributed seven straight points during the hot streak that ended when Gallaudet sophomore Trey Gordon canned a shot from downtown to cut the Swarthmore lead to single digits heading into the break.
Following a sloppy start by both sides, Barkley hit a 3-pointer at the 18:04 mark of the second half to give the Garnet a double-digit advantage that they held for the remainder of the game. Leading 60-45 with 5:13 left, Swarthmore put the game away by embarking on a 12-1 run in which Barkley and Loeffler combined to hit two shots apiece from beyond the arc.
Ethan Lee sealed the final outcome by converting two free throws down the stretch.
Barkley netted his game-high 21 points by shooting 7-for-10 from long range to lead Swarthmore to victory. Loeffler shot 4-for-5 from downtown in his 14-point effort while also finishing with two steals. Freshman
Chris Bourne added 14 points and six boards.
Gallaudet (1-8) was paced by Orion Palmer, who finished the game with 19 points to go along with five rebounds and two steals. Jackson contributed nine points and six boards.
Swarthmore (5-6) resumes Centennial Conference play when it visits Franklin & Marshall on Wednesday, Jan 8 at 8 p.m.
