NEW YORK - The Swarthmore College men's track and field team returned to the Armory Track & Field Center for NYU's Saturday Night Shootout.
The legs of
Corey Branch,
Jonas Oppenheimer,
Erick White and
Paul Green teamed for an ECAC-qualifying 4x800-meter relay third place finish of 7:59.12 - the mark sets an indoor program record. Swarthmore now has the top mark on the season in the Centennial Conference.
In the 1,600-meter sprint medley relay,
Gavin Fahey,
Jason Heo,
Josh Gregory, and
Stuart Arbuckle paced the loop in 3:49.31 to place fourth.
The Garnet continued to show it's strength in the mid-distance runs as sophomore
Dominic Castro-Wehr placed third in the 1,000-meter run with his personal-best 2:36.18 finish. Freshman
John Gagnon clocked 2:46.65 for seventh place and senior
Richard Scott crossed the line at 2:50.61 for eighth place overall.
Senior
Stuart Russell ran a personal-best mile pace of 4:36.98 followed by senior
Dan Kalamarides at 4:48.98 in the four-heat event.
Sophomore
Spencer Friske crushed his personal-best mark in the 3,000-meter run with a finishing time of 8:56.61 among 35 other competitors. Junior
Alec Toro also notched his personal-best in the event with a 9:24.61 time.
Swarthmore returns to action on Saturday, January 25 at the Haverford Invitational beginning at 12:00 p.m.
