COMPLETE RESULTS
NEW YORK - The Swarthmore College men's track and field team returned from winter break with a trip to the Armory Track & Field Center on Friday, January 10 for the NYC Gotham Cup. The meet featured student-athletes from Division I and the Centennial Conference.
Sophomore
Paul Green found his groove in the 1,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:35.22 - a mark four seconds faster than his previous best.
For the 3,000-meter distance, junior
Jonas Oppenheimer finished on a personal-best pace of 8:48.49 for eighth place and ahead of conference competitiors. Oppenheimer's mark ties the program's fifth-best finish, which was last ran in 1990. Â Senior
Stuart Russell also set a personal-best mark with his 8:56.17 time.Â
Also on the track, senior
Erick White recorded a 2:02.20 finish in the 800-meter run for 14th overall followed by teammates
Emanuel Schorsch '15 (2:09.02) and
Henry Zhang '17 (2:29.67).Â
A group of Garnet runners finished 1-2-3 in their mile loop heat - freshman
John Gagnon (4:45.03), junior
Alec Toro (4:49.01) and freshman
Will Sullivan (4:49.90).Â
In the field, Schorsch recorded a 8.64 meter distance in the shot put and senior
Gavin Fahey leaped 5.19 meters in the long jump.Â
The Garnet return to the Armory next weekend for the NYU Saturday Night Shoutout on Saturday, January 18th beginning at 6:30 p.m.
