Red Devils Sneak Past Women's Swimming, 104-101

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - In the last meet of the season before the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore College women's swim team fought to the finish before falling to the Dickinson Red Devils on Saturday by a 104-101 score.

The meet was preceded by Senior Day ceremonies, as Hannah Gotwals, Emily MacDuffie, Katie Schultz, Chloe Stevens, and Alice Wong all swam in their final competition at Ware Pool.

Despite being outmatched on overall depth, the usual suspects kept the Garnet in the hunt throughout the meet. Four of Swarthmore's five individual wins came from the dynamic sophomore duo of Supriya Davis and Kate Wiseman, who won two events each; Davis dominated both the 200 freestyle (1:56.59) and the 200 butterfly (2:09.53) in season-bests, and Wiseman took both sprint freestyle events (25.13 and 54.20). Freshman Eva Winter provided the Garnet's fifth win, touching first in the 200 breaststroke (2:31.27).

Swarthmore's women also swept the relay events. In the meet-opening 400 medley relay, MacDuffie, Winter, Gotwals, and freshman Nikkia Miller teamed up to touch in 4:20.73; in the 400 freestyle relay, the Garnet's A-team of junior Erin Lowe, Miller, Davis, and Wiseman staged a last-half comeback to win in 3:41.59, paced by Davis' blistering 53.15 split on the third leg.

The Garnet will next see action at the Cetennial Conference Championships on February 22-24 at Franklin & Marshall.
