SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Three players reached double-digits to lead the visiting McDaniel College to a 66-52 victory over the Swarthmore College women's basketball team on Monday night from Tarble Pavilion.

In a position to clinch a playoff spot with a win, Swarthmore could not find the right combination to claim a victory over the visiting Green Terror. 

Sophomore Steph Perez led the Green Terror (10-12, 7-10) with 13 points – 11 of which came in the second half. Rachel Rybak and Brittney Davis each tallied 12 points, while Emma Wingerd finished with 10 rebounds.

Junior Katie Lytle collected her tenth consecutive double-double (15 points and 16 rebounds) to match the program record set by Kathryn Stockbower '10 during the 2009-10 season. Lytle now has 15 double-doubles on the season for the Garnet (16-5, 12-4). She devoured a season-high eight offensive boards in addition to four assists and two steals.

Elle Larsen added a game-high 17 points, while Kayla Moritzky tallied five assists, seven points and three steals.

The Green Terror shot 41.8 percent from the field and 46.7 percent from beyond the arc – including 14-for-30 (FG) in the first half and 4-for-8 (3FG) in the second half.

The score remained close for the opening 14 minutes of action with multiple lead changes and two ties, but a 4-0 run from McDaniel with under five minutes to play sparked the visitors offensive - led by Codi McMaster with six points - leading to a nine-point margin with two minutes to play. Amongst four missed shots in the final 2:57, Larsen collected the lone field goal for Swarthmore to close out the half.

McDaniel capitalized on open shots in the first half to take a 37-30 lead into the intermission.

Despite a 7-0 run to start the second half, Swarthmore could not leverage momentum as the Green Terror slowly built a larger deficit – by the 12:19 mark visitors had secured a double-digit lead to which the Garnet could not find a way to climb back. Swarthmore did not score in the final 3:20 minutes of action.

At 4:52 Perez finished the layup for a 14-point McDaniel lead, 61-47. Davis closed out the Green Terror victory with the final five points of the game.

Swarthmore will travel to Washington College on Wednesday, February 6th – tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m.
