Women's Tennis Competes in ITA Southeast Regional

Fredericksburg, Va. - Leds by seniors Kelsey Johnson and Emily Rosenblum, and freshman Jackie Lane, the Swarthmore College women's tennis team participated in the ITA Southeast Regional tournament held at the University of Mary Washington over the weekend.

Lane won her first round match in the Blue 1 draw convincingly, defeating Tori Ryherd of Virgnia Wesleyan College. She later earned a doubles victory in the championship doubles consolation draw, pairing with Rosenblum to defeat Morrissett/Noland of Christopher Newport University, 8-5.  

Rosenblum defeated her first opponent from Catholic University in the championship singles consolation draw, earning a decisive 8-1 win. Johnson also won her first consolation round match against Youlious from Salisbury, 8-6.

Johnson's doubles victory came with junior Epiphany English. They won 8-5 against Evangelista/Pipkin of Elizabethtown, before falling to Alban/Iosue from the University of Mary Washington.

Juniors Katie Samuelson and Brooke Wilkins also competed in the tournament, but were defeated in doubles by teams from Haverford and Bridgewater College.

The women now prepare for the Centennial Conference Invitational, which will take place at Swarthmore, beginning on October 6.
