SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The class of 2013 was strong in its last first meet of the season, as the seniors led the Swarthmore men's swim team (1-0, 1-0) to a 119-86 win over McDaniel on Saturday.
The Garnet captured the first event of the day with a win in the 200 medley relay, as junior Stan Le and seniors Daniel Duncan, Charlie Hepper, and Roger Chin teamed up to touch in 1:41.96.
Swarthmore's men took four individual events, all of which came at the hands of upperclassmen. Duncan won the 200 freestyle in 1:46.78; Hepper squeezed out a win in the 100 butterfly (56.35); Chin took the 100 backstroke in 56.53; and Le, the lone junior victor of the day, took the 100 breaststroke in 1:04.73.
The class of 2016 provided notable depth, as Riley Collins and Josh Turek-Herman earned second-place finishes in the 100 breaststroke and 1000 freestyle, respectively, and Samuel Tomlinson and David Ranshous touched second and third in both sprint freestyle events.
The men closed the day with a definitive win in the 200 freestyle relay, as Duncan and Tomlinson joined junior John Flaherty and sophomore Max Krackow to touch in 1:29.91.
Swarthmore returns to action on Wednesday, as the team takes on 320 rival Widener at Ware Pool. Action is set to begin at 6:30pm
