HAVERFORD, Pa. - Led by senior Jacob Phillips, the Swarthmore College men's cross country team earned a fourth-place finish at the Centennial Conference Championships at Haverford College on Saturday morning.
Phillips placed seventh overall on the five-mile course, finishing with a time of 25:20.3. Thanks to his seventh-place finish, Phillips garnered First Team All-Centennial Conference honors, becoming the first Garnet runner since Lang Reynolds in 2003 to earn the accomplishment.
The next three Garnet runners finished successively with sophomore Jonas Oppenheimer finishing 26th with a time of 26:18.7, senior Aidan DuMont-McCaffrey finishing with a time of 26:19.6 (27th), and junior Stuart Russell, who ran the course in 26:23.8 (28th).
Rounding out the top eight Swarthmore runners were junior Robert Fain (33rd/26:51.6), freshman Spencer Friske (40th/27:07.6), and sophomore Erick White (52nd/27:25.8).
Junior Dan Kalamarides (57th/27:38.5), sophomore Alec Toro (60th/27:55.2), sophomore Jorin Schug (66th/28:18.3), and freshmen Dominic Castro-Wehr (71st/28:34.3) and Paul green (78th/28:56.6) also ran the course.
The Garnet, which earned 104 team points, finished behind Haverford (24), Dickinson (52), and Johns Hopkins (53) in team standings
With the conclusion of conference action, the team will now prepare for the NCAA Mideast Regional Race on November 10 at Big Spring High School.
