GREENWOOD, Ind. – The Swarthmore College men's and women's swimming teams combined for seven selections to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team.
Danny Castle,
Dylan Herink,
Dylan Ling, and
Levi Tipton represented the Garnet men while
Maya Ambardekar,
Genine Collins, and
Norah Rutkowski were chosen from the women's squad. It was the second consecutive honor for both Castle and Collins.
To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. In addition, they had to compete in 75 percent of competitions, finish top-eight at a conference meet, or participate in a national championship. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
Castle and Tipton were both on three All-America relays at the NCAA Championships. Castle picked up four medals at the Centennial Championships while Tipton earned two. Herink and Ling each grabbed one medal at the conference meet.
Collins was a two-time national runner-up and six-time All-American at this year's NCAA Championships. She also garnered six medals at the Centennial Championships. Ambardekar and Rutkowski were both on a pair of All-America relays at the national championships. Rutkowski was a four-time conference medalist while Ambardekar earned three medals.
