Women’s Track Wraps Up Spring Break with Pair of Top-Three Finishes

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team finished off its outdoor debut at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge on Saturday. 

Tate Garcia had the top collegiate finish of the day, placing second overall in the shot put. She also took ninth in the discus for a pair of top-10 results.

Elizabeth Page led a strong showing in the collegiate 800m run. The sophomore finished third overall, while Olivia Montini placed ninth. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Garcia claimed second overall in the collegiate shot put with a top throw of 12.93m. Briana Eugene (11.02m) and Aislinn Comerford (10.61m) finished 15th and 16th, respectively. Lydia Morris-Kliment also had a solid performance, finishing 28th at 9.98m. 

- Page built off an outstanding indoor season with a strong start to the spring. The sophomore was third overall in the collegiate 800m run at 2:18.13. Montini also finished inside the top-10 in the event, securing ninth with a 2:21.68 finish. Rica Eleches-Lipsitz finished towards the middle of the pack in 15th place at 2:29.53. 

- Garcia also earned a top-10 finish in the discus throw, finishing ninth with a top distance of 39.33m. Morris-Kliment followed in 12th with a measurement of 38.42m, while Eugene finished towards the top half of the field at 32.55m in 23rd place. 

- Aaliyah Anaskevich had a strong showing in the collegiate 1500m run, finishing 13th overall out of 38 challengers. The sophomore ran to a personal best with a time of 5:06.35, trimming over 30 seconds off her previous mark. 

- Ania Wong finished with a time of 1:04.05 in the collegiate 400m dash. The sophomore finished 33rd in a field of 53. 

- Caroline Hill won the open high jump with a top height of 1.50m. Kate Reiter was also fifth in the field with a 1.45m height. 

UP NEXT
The Garnet compete at the West Chester Purple and Gold Meet, next weekend.
