Women’s Track Opens Outdoor Season in Myrtle Beach

MYRTLE BEACH, SC - The Swarthmore College women's track & field team opened the outdoor season at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate on Friday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hannah Swale had an excellent showing in the javelin to open the outdoor season. The senior was tenth overall in the event with a top distance of 32.59m. Amelia Landry also finished inside the top-20, placing 19th with a throw of 27.76m. The field consisted of 55 competitors. 

- The Garnet had a strong showing in the hammer throw, placing two inside the top-20. Tate Garcia threw a distance of 38.79m to place 16th overall, while Lydia Morris-Kliment recorded a personal best of 37.33m to finish 18th. 

- Caroline Hill finished at 16.89 in the 100m hurdles collegiate prelims to place 19th overall. Kate Reiter also had a strong performance, taking 25th overall with a 17.36 mark. 

- Rebekah Gendler took 26th overall in the collegiate long jump. The sophomore had a top mark of 4.93m.

- Hannah Garrou raced to a time of 13.16 in the 100m collegiate prelims. The senior fell just a hundredth of a second short of her personal record. She placed 44th overall in a field of 80 sprinters.
