COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's track & field team finished in eighth place at the Centennial Conference Outdoor Championships on Sunday. The three-day meet was contested at Ursinus College.
Theo Teszler led the Garnet on the final day of competition, earning a silver medal in the 400 meters. Swarthmore compiled 50 points on the weekend.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Teszler was the runner-up in a thrilling race in the 400 with a personal-best time of 48.31. The rookie was edged at the line by 0.03 seconds and Teszler himself was only 0.09 seconds ahead of the bronze medalist. It was a bittersweet silver for the first-year after he posted the top time in the prelims on Saturday.
- The Garnet's 4x400 meter relay team of
Matthew Gutow,
Quentin Adolphe,
Owen Lord, and Teszler came in fourth place with a time of 3:21.80. The group narrowly missed the podium by 0.39 seconds.
- Swarthmore placed four athletes inside the top 20 in the 1500 meters.
Kenneth Relovsky took fifth (3:58.76) and
Isaac Chu posted a personal-record to finish 12
th (4:04.97).
Luka Opacic-Rodrigues followed in 16
th place (4:06.41) and
Logan Rose was 20
th (4:11.52).
- The Garnet had five runners compete in the 5000 meters.
Atticus Hempel led the pack with a fifth place (14:52.58).
Robert Mirabello also scored a point by crossing eighth (15:05.25).
Matthew Fleming,
Teddy King-Pollet, and
Spencer Etheridge came in 19
th (15:40.80), 23
rd (15:43.33), and 24
th (15:53.29) respectively.
- The 4x100 meter relay of
Guillaume Robert,
Rishi Tella,
Quentin Adolphe, and
Alan Nichols took eighth in 44.25.
Eoin Quinn recorded a top-10 performance in the triple jump, placing ninth (12.49m).

Art Keys both registered an 18
th-place finish in the javelin (35.98m) and shot put (10.72m) respectively.
