LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team had three players selected to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Team.
Clay Almgren was named to the All-America Second Team while
Samuel Ginsberg and
Drew Tyson both received honorable mention. It is the second straight All-America honorable mention for Ginsberg and Tyson.
Almgren was chosen the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Year after leading the conference with 79 points. He ranked second with 41 assists and he was fourth with 38 goals. Almgren scored three or more goals seven times this year and tallied five or more points on 11 occasions. He was 21
st in Division III in points per game (5.27) and 25
th in assists per game (2.73). Almgren was named the Centennial Offensive Player of the Week three times.
Ginsberg was Swarthmore's top defensive midfielder and was an All-Centennial Second Team honoree. He helped the Garnet rank 14
th in scoring defense (8.12) and 33
rd in man-down defense (.778). Ginsberg collected 26 ground balls and registered 10 caused turnovers, which was tied for second on the team. Ginsberg posted season highs of five ground balls against Ursinus College and two caused turnovers twice.
Tyson was an All-Centennial Second Team selection after setting a new single-season program record with 204 saves. His .667 save percentage ranks fifth all-time. The junior leads the nation in save percentage and sits fourth in goals against average (7.63). Tyson made double-digit stops 13 times with a career-high 20 saves twice.
In addition to the USILA honors, Tyson and Almgren were also recognized by USA Lacrosse Magazine. Tyson was chosen to the publication's All-America Third Team while Almgren received honorable mention.
