CARLISLE, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's lacrosse team came up short in its Centennial Conference semifinal game at No. 16 Dickinson College, 11-8, on Friday evening.
The Garnet battled throughout the contest but were never able to seize a lead. The teams were even at four at halftime and deadlocked at six late in the third quarter but the Red Devils closed the matchup with a 5-2 run to come away with the victory.
Michael Hardiman and
Emmett Harris tallied two goals and one assist apiece.
Nolan Ohrman dished three helpers while
Danny Lowe scored twice.
Jack Rice led the squad with six ground balls and caused a turnover.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The game was scoreless for nearly nine minutes before Dickinson finally broke the ice at the 6:15 mark.
Ryder Maston got Swarthmore on the board just over a minute later to tie the score at one. The Red Devils produced back-to-back goals late in the period to take a 3-1 lead before Harris found the back of the net with 45 seconds left to get the Garnet within one entering the second.
- After a Dickinson goal with 12:48 on the clock, neither team beat the opposing goalkeeper for over 10 minutes. A man-up opportunity allowed Swarthmore to end its drought with 2:02 to go on a marker by
Owen Hoffman. Hardiman scored less than a minute later to tie the score and the teams were level at four apiece at the intermission.
- The Red Devils struck for two goals within the opening five minutes of the third quarter but Lowe answered with consecutive tallies for the Garnet and the score was even again at six. Dickinson posted a go-ahead goal with just 18 seconds to play and the home team took a 7-6 advantage into the final period.
- Harris scored his second of the day early in the fourth to tie the score once more but the Red Devils netted two in a row for a 9-7 edge with 8:31 remaining. Hardiman potted his second at the 7:07 mark to bring Swarthmore within one. However, the Dickinson defense locked in and did not allow a Garnet shot for almost six minutes. Swarthmore managed a pair of shots in the final 90 seconds of the game but one went wide and the other caught the post. The Red Devils put the game away with two insurance goals in the closing three minutes.
