GREENWOOD, Ind. – Three Swarthmore College student-athletes were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Men's Swimming Team on Tuesday.
Danny Castle,
Cole Griscavage, and
Sam Peterson earned the award for the Garnet. It was the third consecutive year that Griscavage received the honor and the second straight nod for Peterson.
To be eligible for Academic All-District accolades, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, compete in at least four competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference meet, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or better. The Academic All-District Team is part of the Academic All-America program, which is the longest running and premier award for athletic and academic success across college sports.
Castle was chosen the Centennial Championships Most Outstanding Performer after claiming six gold medals and one silver. A two-time Centennial Athlete of the Week, Castle competed in the 100 and 200 freestyle and was on four relays at the NCAA Championships. He earned All-America Second Team honors as part of the 200 free and 400 free relays.
Griscavage claimed four golds, two silvers, and one bronze at the conference championships. He raced in four relays for Swarthmore at the NCAA Championships, garnering All-America Second Team accolades in the 200 free and 400 free relays.
Peterson won gold in the 200 butterfly and earned a silver as a member of the Garnet's 800 free relay at the Centennial Championships.
The trio helped Swarthmore win its fourth consecutive Centennial title.
