Men’s Track & Field Earns Pair of Top Finishes at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team returned to action with several top finishes at Haverford's Seamus McElligott Invitational on Saturday afternoon. 

Theo Teszler and Jay van Adrichem Boogaert headlined the afternoon with first-place finishes for the Garnet. Teszler claimed his first collegiate win in the 400m run, while van Adrichem Boogaert finished with the lead position in the 800m run. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Teszler claimed first overall in a tightly-contested 400m run. The first-year finished with a time of 51.65 to edge out his challenger by two-tenths of a second. Teszler recorded his first collegiate victory. Matthew Gutow also enjoyed a top-three finish in the event with a 52.55 mark to take third overall. 

- van Adrichem Boogaert finished first overall in the 800m run. The senior posted a time of 2:05.25 to pace the field in his second collegiate victory. Logan Rose also took 10th overall with a 2:14.66 mark. 

- Joey Alander raced to a third-place finish in the 3000m run. The sophomore achieved his first sub-nine-minute mark with a personal best of 8:59.68. Teddy King-Pollet placed fifth overall in the event at 9:20.97 in his collegiate track & field debut. 

- Ravi Sandhu tied for third overall in the pole vault. The first-year cleared a top mark of 3.65m on his first attempt. 

- Charlie Schuetz finished fifth overall in the mile. The sophomore crossed the finish at 4:28.12 for a new personal record. Schuetz improved his previous-best mark by a second. 

- Swarthmore earned three top-10 finishes in the 60m dash. Joel Lovell led the squad with a seventh-place effort (7.33), while Theo Teszler (7.34) and Gabe Hines (7.34) tied for ninth overall. 

- The 4x200m relay of Alan Nichols, Quentin Adolphe, Lovell and Teszler placed fourth overall with a 1:35.20 effort.

UP NEXT
The Garnet return to action next weekend at the Fastrack National Invitational and the Frank Colden Invitational.
