LANCASTER, Pa. – The Swarthmore College men's indoor track & field team got its season underway on Friday night with competition at Franklin and Marshall College's Diplomat Open.
Robert Mirabello was the victor in the 3000 meters to lead the Garnet. Swarthmore had an additional five podium finishes on the evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mirabello ran a personal-best 8:52.93 to take first place in the 3000 meters. He was 1.37 seconds faster than the second-place runner and bested his previous top time by nearly 11 seconds. It marked Mirabello's first career individual victory.
- In their first collegiate meet,
Theo Teszler and
Owen Lord placed second (50.44) and third (51.68) respectively in the 400 meters. The duo also ran on Swarthmore's 4x400 meter relay as the team of
Matthew Gutow,
Jayden Figueroa, Lord, and Teszler registered a time of 3:33.72 for third place. The quartet was just 0.5 seconds off the first-place squad.

Noah St. George came in second place in his first collegiate high jump event, posting a height of 5' 11.5" (1.82m). Gutow finished third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:03.32.

Eoin Quinn had a pair of top-eight finishes, taking fifth (40' 3.5", 12.28m) in the triple jump and tying for eighth (5' 7.75", 1.72m) in the high jump.
Alan Nichols was tied alongside Quinn in the high jump.
Quentin Adolphe competed in the long jump and placed fifth (20' 7", 6.27m).

Isaac Chu and
Kenneth Relovsky went back-to-back in the 3000 meters, finishing fifth (9:00.07) and sixth (9:04.14) respectively.
Joshua Leinwand crossed the line seventh in the mile with a personal-record time of 4:38.43.

The Garnet will return to action after the holidays with the NYC Gotham Cup on January 17.
