Women’s Cross Country Finishes Third Overall at Rowan Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Swarthmore College women's cross country team placed third overall out of 31 teams at the Rowan Border Battle on Saturday morning. The Garnet, who entered the race as the top team in the region, placed behind regional foe Rowan University and Centennial Conference rival Johns Hopkins University.

Elizabeth Page put together a top-10 finish to pace the Garnet. The first-year set a new personal record to place seventh overall in the field and first overall among Metro Region challengers.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Page placed first among regional competitors with a seventh-place effort. The first-year crossed the finish line at 21:48.3 to shave 30-seconds off her previous best.

- Olivia Montini finished inside the top-20 with a 19th-place effort. The junior raced to a 22:05.7 finish to post a new personal record in the 6k. Montini took six seconds off her previous-best mark to place sixth in the region.

- Ania Wong finished 26th overall and 10th in the Metro Region. The first-year took down her previous best with a time of 22:21.8. Wong trimmed 13-seconds off her time at the Paul Short Run.

- Alina Irvine raced to a 35th overall finish. The senior crossed the finish line at 22:55.6 to cut 18-seconds off her previous record.

- Sophie Goodwin took 85th overall with a time of 23:57.6. Téa Malone-Bonacci followed with a time of 24:14.1 to place 103rd, while Tara Dhawale rounded out the top-seven with a 24:27.5 effort to place 113th overall. Dhawale achieved a new personal record with her mark.

- Evie Parts claimed a new personal record with a 24:46.5 finish. The Garnet combined for six new personal records on the day.
