Montini Repeats at Bryn Mawr Invitational

MEDIA, Pa. - Swarthmore College women's cross country sophomore Olivia Montini repeated as the individual champion at the Bryn Mawr Invitational, Friday at Rose Tree Park. First-year Sophie Goodwin also earned a top-10 finish with a seventh place effort for the Garnet.

Montini crossed the finish line at 20:01.80 to lead the pack, while Sophia Goodwin put together a seventh place finish at 21:38.70. Montini bested her nearest competitor by eight seconds to claim victory on the hilly 5k course.
 


HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montini ran a mile pace of 6:28.70 in her victory. She beat out an Immaculata runner by eight seconds to claim the win. The sophomore posted a 27-second course personal record after running a 20:28.00 in her 2022 collegiate debut.

- Goodwin celebrated her collegiate debut with a top-10 finish. The first-year was seventh overall with a mile pace of 6:58.00. 

- Charisma Hasan claimed 13th overall to record the team's third-best effort. The senior posted a time of 23:04.30 for a course personal record. 

- Morgan McErlean, Lucy Valencia and Bella Thoen finished in the top-20 for Swarthmore. McErlean was 16th overall at 23:22.7, while first-years Valencia and Thoen were 19th and 20th, respectively. Valencia ran a 23:42.70 and Thoen finished at 23:43.90.
