COLLEGEVILLE, PA. - Competing on day three of the Centennial Conference Championships, the Swarthmore men's track & field team posted stellar results, including a silver medal on the day.
Taking on the eight other Centennial squads, the Garnet fielded athletes in 7 events, including: Javelin Throw, Shot Put, Triple Jump, 4x100m Relay, 1500m, 5000m and 4x400m Relay.
The Garnet ended the meet with a total of 53 points, slotting in at seventh place in the team competition.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Field:
- Starting out with the javelin throw, senior
Xavier Serrano finished fifth overall, putting up a mark of 48.93m.
- The Garnet saw a top ten finish in the triple jump, as first year
Jeremy Amankwah placed 10th with a mark of 12.64m.
- Senior
Julio Del Cid finished 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 11.48m.
Track:
- Moving over to the track, the Garnet finished sixth in the 4x100m relay, putting up a time of 44.42 seconds.
- Cementing his status as a Garnet distance-running legend, senior
Aidan Cantine broke the meet record in the 1500m with his time of 3:47.23, a mark good enough for second place and a silver medal in the event.
- Three members of the Garnet placed top-20 in the 5000m run, with first year
Will Sheehy coming in 12th at 15:26.89, junior
Sam Brody finishing 15th at 15:37.09 and sophomore
Rowan Orlijan-Rhyne slotting into 20th at 15:52.72.
- Wrapping up the meet for the Garnet, the Swarthmore A team finished eighth in the 4x400m relay, putting up a time of 3:29.17.

Competing in one more regular season meet before the NCAA National Championships, the Garnet will travel to Chester, PA for the Widener University Final Qualifier.
