CHESTER, PA. - Taking on day one of the Widener University Invitational on Friday, Apr. 21, the Swarthmore men's track & field team saw record breaking performances.
Taking on over fifty other teams, including Centennial rivals Ursinus College and Haverford College, the Garnet notched two top-ten finishes, including a new program record in the mile run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Starting out on the track, senior
Aidan Cantine crossed the finish line with a time of 4:05.85 in the mile. Not only was his performance good enough for sixth place, but it also set a new Swarthmore school record in the event.
- Junior
Sam Brody joined his teammate in track success, placing 16th in the 5000m with his time of 15:06.54.
- Rounding out the day in the field, first year
Jeremy Amankwah finished ninth in the triple jump, notching a mark of 12.02m.
