Sheehy Earns First Place Finish, Sprints and Jumps Impress at Haverford

HAVERFORD, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team placed third overall out of six teams at the Haverford College Keogh Invitational on Saturday morning.

Will Sheehy highlighted the afternoon with a first place finish in the 5000m run. The Garnet also saw a handful of personal bests in their sprints and jumps events. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sheehy won the 5000m run in his first collegiate appearance in the event. The first-year crossed the finish line at 15:23.49 to claim the top spot. 

- Jeremy Amankwah took second in the 60m hurdle with a time of 9.67. It was the freshman's first appearance in the event this season. He also took second in the triple jump with a top distance of 12.22m. 

- Joel Lovell grabbed a personal record in the 60m dash with a time of 7.64 to place sixth in the event. Lovell was also fourth in the 200m dash at 24.62, while Guillaume Robert followed at 25.78. Both marked personal records in the 200m dash. 

- Sam Brody placed fifth in the mile with a time of 4:33.04 to post his fastest mile time of the season. Jay van Adrichem Boogaert also earned a top-10 finish with a time of 4:40.94 to place seventh overall. 

- Matthew Gutow finished fifth in the 800m run at 2:04.44, while van Adrichem Boogaert took home another top-10 finish with a 2:06.69 mark to place eighth. 

- Jonathon Cubus set a new personal record in the 400m dash with a 55.12 finish to claim seventh place.

The Garnet travel to the Princeton Invitational on Sunday.
