Montini Qualifies for NCAA Tournament to Headline Metro Regionals

GLASSBORO, NJ - Swarthmore women's cross country standout Olivia Montini earned All-Region status and qualified for the NCAA Championships to headline a seventh place finish for the Garnet on Saturday afternoon. 

The sophomore earned her second-straight NCAA selection after finishing in sixth place at the Metro Championships. Montini set a personal record in the event with a time of 22:11.7 as she took over a full minute off her previous time at DREAM Park. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Montini placed sixth overall with a personal record of 22:11.7 to earn All-Region status. The sophomore is headed to the NCAA Championships for the second-straight season after taking over a minute off her previous time at the Rowan Border Battle. Montini ran in the top-10 for the majority of the race as she moved up two positions late to take sixth place.

- Sophie Goodwin just missed all-region status with a 40th place effort. The first-year crossed the finish line at 23:41.3 to record a new personal record. Goodwin took five seconds off her previous best at the Rowan Border Battle. 

- Téa Malone-Bonacci finished 46th overall in her regional debut. The first-year recorded a time of 24:00.4 to record a new personal record. Malone-Bonacci improved her previous best at the Rowan Border Battle by over a minute. 

- Charisma Hasan earned a 68th place finish with a time of 24:43.8 to record her best 6k mark of the season. Lucy Valencia followed in 75th place with a 24:57.0 effort to set a new personal record. 

- First-years Olivia Cloutier and Bella Thoen rounded out Swarthmore's competitors. Cloutier finished 93nd overall at 25:51.5, while Thoen crossed the finish line at 26:26.4 to finish 105th. Cloutier recorded a new personal record with her finish.

Montini will represent the Garnet at the NCAA Championships on Saturday, Nov. 18 in Carlisle, Pa.
