Men's Track & Field Competes at Final Day of Centennial Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's track & field team placed eighth overall as they wrapped up competition at the Centennial Championships on Sunday.

The Garnet had a successful day in the distance events. Aidan Cantine, Ethan RothenbergAtticus Hempel and Aiden Tomov all earned points for Swarthmore with strong finishes in their respective events.  

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cantine and Rothenberg earned points in the 1500m run. Cantine paced the Garnet with a fifth place effort at 3:56.80, while Rothenberg crossed the finish in sixth at 3:59.29. Rothenberg broke sub-four minutes for the first time with a personal best effort.

- Hempel posted a fourth place effort in the 5000m run. The freshman crossed the finish line at 14:42.48 to set a new personal record.

- Tomov placed fifth overall with a time of 1:54.67 in the 800m run. The junior took over two seconds off his previous best in the event.


- Xavier Serrano earned points in the javelin throw with a seventh place finish. The junior recorded a top throw of 46.86m to set a new personal best.
