GENEVA, OH - Swarthmore College women's track & field standout
Adria Retter earned All-American status with a third place finish in the discus throw at the NCAA National Championships on Thursday afternoon.
Retter is the 14th member of the women's track & field team to earn All-American status in program history and the first since Clay Conley captured their third All-American honor in 2020.
Retter recorded a top mark of 44.90m on the first throw of the afternoon, which held as the third best throw of the championships. She recorded two other marks above 44-meters with distances of 44.33m and 44.43m on her third and fourth attempts, respectively. All six of Retter's attempts traveled over 40-meters.
The junior overcame plenty of adversity this season after suffering a leg injury midway through the outdoor campaign. However, Retter bounced back in a big way as she returned to competition at the Centennial Championships - winning the shot put and placing second in the discus throw. Before suffering the injury, Retter held the top discus throw in the nation and the third-best mark in Centennial Conference history at 46.03m.
Retter will look to cap off her remarkable season in tomorrow's shot put championship. The junior recorded a top shot put throw of 13.69m earlier this spring.
