Men's Swimming

Men Finish Second at Gettysburg Invite, Several Garnet Post Top-10 All-Time Swims

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - The Swarthmore College men's swimming team finished second out of six teams at the Gettysburg Invitational on Saturday night. 

Gettysburg finished first with 937 points followed by the Garnet, who tallied 873.5 points on the weekend. Dickinson took third overall, while Ursinus, Scranton and Shippensburg rounded out the rest of the field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cole Griscavage added to an impressive weekend with a top finish in the 100 freestyle at 46.21. AJ Das followed with a time of 46.64, while Ethan Marotte took fifth at 47.08. Griscavage moved into fifth all-time in the event. 

- Ben Freeman took first overall in the 200 freestyle at 1:41.23. Das also followed in second place with a time of 1:41.66 as he moved into sixth all-time on the program all-time rankings. 

- Joey Lukner finished first overall in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.52. 

- The team of Freeman, Das, Luke Magnuson and Ham Williams-Tracy won the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 6:55.86. 

- The 200 medley relay of Lukner, Andrew Karpenko, Dylan Ling and Marotte placed second overall in the event with a time of 1:33.59. The relay was followed by the team of Mats McGrath, Vijay Chhabra, Jonathan Suh and Benton Greenberg, who recorded a 1:35.10 mark.

- Marotte was second in the 100 butterfly with a 50.86 mark, while Jonathan Suh followed in third with a time of 51.32. Suh moved into 10th on Swarthmore's all-time rankings. 

- Finn Conaway and Jacob Sherman were third and fourth, respectively, in the 400 IM. Conaway touched the wall at 4:12.99, while Sherman finished at 4:13.14.

- Andrew Karpenko touched the wall at 57.27 to take third overall in the 100 breaststroke. Ben Wesley (58.16) and Griscavage (58.20) also took fourth and fifth, respectively. Griscavage moved into eighth all-time in program history. 

- Ben Freeman opened the night session with a third place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a 16:32.42 mark. 

- Sherman took second in the 200 backstroke with a 1:53.02 finish. 

- Ling finished second overall in the 200 butterfly with a time of 1:53.63. The first-year improved to fourth all-time in the event. 

- Swarthmore closed the night with a first place finish in the 400 freestyle relay. The team of Wesley, Marotte, Griscavage and Das finished with a time of 3:06.21 as they moved into ninth all-time in program history.
