LANCASTER, Pa. -- Swarthmore College Track & Field seniors
Benjamin Hejna and
Robert Eppley have been named Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week for the first time in their careers as they helped the Garnet score the most points of six teams at the Haverford Holiday Meet on Saturday.
Eppley, the track athlete of the week, tied the Swarthmore record in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07 seconds. He placed second, finishing just 0.01 behind the first-place finisher. He also contributed to a third-place mark in the 4x400 relay (3:41.73).
Hejna, the field athlete of the week, excelled in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. He won the long jump with a mark of 6.59 meters, placed second in the triple jump at 13.23 meters and took third in the high jump at 1.90 meters. His triple jump and high jump currently rank 35th in Division III, and his long jump is 47th.
Swarthmore's next meet is Saturday, Jan. 12 as the Coach I Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa.
