MEDIA, Pa.—Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country took five of the top nine spots in the opening meet of the season. Natalie McLaughlin and Indy Reid-Shaw had the top finishes for the Garnet in Thursday's 5K race at Rose Tree Park, finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. McLaughlin and Reid-Shaw crossed the finish line virtually together with McLaughlin's time recorded at 20:34.3 and Reid-Shaw's at 20:34.4. Tess Wei (20:42.3) and Irina Bukharin (20:46.5) weren't far behind as they finished sixth and seventh. Lilly Price posted a time of 21:18.2 to finish in ninth. The Garnet added three more runners to the top-20: Kate Hannah finished in 11th (21:34.4), Lili Tobias in 13th (21:40.2) and Susan Fain in 20th (22:26.6).
Swarthmore continues the season on Sept. 10 with a race against alumnae. They return to intercollegiate competition on Sept. 16 at the Mainline Invite.
