Lizzie Kolln scored a hat trick to lead the Garnet's second-half push, but the charge came a little short as the Garnet fell 12-8 to the Rangers.
Kolln, who is averaging just over 25 goals per season, struck three times in the second half as the Garnet attempted to make up ground. Freshman
Tess Wild tallied her first two collegiate goals.
Kathryn Restrepo,
Briana Narzikul and
Emily Sokol each scored as well.
The Rangers pulled ahead early with the first four goals of the game. Sokol posted the first Garnet goal of the season with 8:17 to go in the first after Kolln located her for the assisted score. Drew added another goal, but Restrepo responded with 4:20 to play, cutting the Rangers' lead to 5-2.
Drew scored another string of four goals to close out the first half and open the second. The Garnet went on to out-score the Rangers 6-3 the rest of the way. Kolln scored her first with 17:46 to go and then Sokol assisted Wild just 43 seconds later. Trailing 11-5 with 5:37 to play, Sokol picked up her second assist, setting up Kolln's second tally and a string of three straight for the Garnet. Kolln completed the hat trick with 1:10 remaining.
Connie Bowen recorded 10 saves for the Garnet.

Swarthmore heads to Florida for a pair of games this week. Play continues against Rivier College Tuesday at 11 a.m.
