COLLEGEVILLE, Pa.—Overtime on the road proved unkind to the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team for the second game in a row as the Garnet fell at Ursinus College 12-11 on Saturday. 

Saturday's contest had dramatically different halves. The Garnet dashed to a 7-2 first-half advantage, but the second half belonged to the Ursinus Bears 9-4. Six straight goals in a 10-minute stretch in the second half brought the Bears back into the game.

Elizabeth Wainwright led the Garnet with a hat trick. Lizzie Kolln and Elizabeth Upton each posted a pair of goals. Shaven Chinnappan, Tess Wild, Kathryn Restrepo and Briana Narzikul all found the back of the net as well.

Connie Bowen tallied 10 saves in the crease for Swarthmore. 

The Garnet rolled out to a 3-0 lead in the first 11 minutes. After Ursinus got on the board 16 minutes into the period, Swarthmore rattled off four straight goals. Wainwright and Upton had goals within 13 seconds of each other in the middle of that quick run. Ursinus scored a player-up goal with two minutes left in the half to make the first half score 7-2, Swarthmore.

The Garnet pushed the lead to 9-2 after scoring in quick succession: with 26:22 and then 26:11 on the clock. Later, with the Garnet leading 10-3, the Bears awoke with six-straight goals. Chinnappan interrupted their spree with a goal at 8:18, but Ursinus score with 1:57 to play and then forced overtime with a goal with just 37 seconds left.

With 22 seconds left in the first half of overtime, Ursinus' Courtney Cortese netted a free-position goal for the sudden victory.

Swarthmore (3-4, 0-1 Centennial) hosts Widener University on Thursday at 7 p.m.
