Box Score CHESTER, Pa. – Seniors Elyse Tierney and Sara Lentricchia each factored into five goals to lead the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team to a 15-4 rout of Widener on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at Edith R. Dixon Stadium.
After the teams traded goals in the opening five minutes, Swarthmore took control of the game by scoring four of the next five. Freshman
Taylor Chiang most notably netted her first goal when she was set up by classmate
Kathryn Restrepo at the 11:08 mark. A free position goal by Widener's Meghan Garvey made it 8-4 in favor of the visitors at recess.
Swarthmore completely dominated the second half by netting seven goals and keeping the Pride off the scoreboard for the entire frame.
Elyse Tierney led the way with three tallies, while senior
Elizabeth Bachman, junior
Lizzie Kolln, sophomore
Briana Narzikul and Lentricchia also found the back of the net during the stretch to provide more than enough insurance for the Garnet to win their final non-conference game of the season.
Connie Bowen picked up the victory between the pipes for Swarthmore by making 12 saves, while Widener's Megan Dunn turned away 10 shots in the loss. Senior
Samantha Reichard, juniors Tazmin Bailiff Curtis and
Antonia Violante as well as freshman
Christina Labows were also among the many players on defense that limited the Pride to just four goals in the game.
Swarthmore (7-4) resumes Centennial Conference play when it visits third-ranked Franklin & Marshall on Saturday, Apr. 11 at 1 p.m.
