Box Score SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Molly Lausten scored seven goals, including three on free position attempts, to lift Haverford to a 17-10 win over the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team on Saturday, Apr. 25 at Clothier Field.
Haverford (10-7, CC 5-4), which earned the fifth seed in the upcoming Centennial Conference Tournament with the victory, outscored the Garnet by a 5-1 score over the first 15 minutes and never trailed in the contest. With the score tied at 1-all, Molly Lausten, Sarina Manetta and Dayna Kim all capitalized on free positions before Christina Gould tacked on an unassisted marker.
The Garnet had an answer when freshman
Taylor Chiang received a pass through traffic from senior
Sara Lentricchia and one-timed a shot past Megan Chenworth for a highlight reel goal to provide a spark for the hosts. But after freshman
Kathryn Restrepo drove in on her own and scored to make it 5-3 with 13:04 left, Haverford rattled off five unanswered to close out the half.
In the second frame, Haverford used a six-goal outburst to steamroll its way to a commanding 16-4 advantage by getting scores from five different players. Lentricchia attempted to start a rally by scoring all three of her goals in the game during a stretch of 5:03, but the initial deficit was too much to overcome.
Lausten recorded eight points on seven goals and one assist to pace Haverford, which had a 36-21 advantage in total shots and won 16 draw controls. Lentricchia led the Garnet offense with three goals and one assist.
Chenworth picked up the victory between the pipes for Haverford by making four saves. Garnet junior
Connie Bowen took the loss after turning away seven shots in the losing effort.
Swarthmore (7-9, CC 2-7) is slated to return 18 letterwinners and eight starters next season.
