Liam Fitzstevens broke the school record in the 100-yard backstroke at the 2015 NCAA Division III Championships on Friday, March 20 at the CISD Natatorium. It was the second of three events he will be swimming this weekend.
Fitzstevens' time of 50.95 seconds broke the previous school record of 51.22 that he recent established at the 2015 Centennial Conference Championships, earning him a 32nd-place finish nationally among Division III swimmers. Only the top 16 places advance to this afternoon's finals.
Fitzstevens concludes competing at the NCAA Championships tomorrow when he swims the 200-yard backstroke, his premier event, during morning preliminaries.
