NEWVILLE, Pa.--No. 35 Swarthmore College Women's Cross Country finished in fifth of 50 squads on Saturday morning in the NCAA Mideast Regionals. Swarthmore's
Tess Wei and
Indy Reid-Shaw, who both earned All-Centennial Conference honors this year, added All-Region distinction to their season accolades.
The Garnet scored 198 points with an average team time of 23:14.8 in the 6K meet.
Wei led the Garnet with a time of 22:53.9, good enough for 23rd overall. Reid-Shaw came in right behind Wei with a time of 22:55.9.
Sarah Nielsen supported the Garnet with a 39th overall finish in 23:15.5.
Irina Bukharin and
Jenna Cody provided the fourth and fifth best Garnet runs. Bukharin finished in 55th overall with a time of 23:33.8, and
Jenna Cody was less than a second away, crossing the finish line in 23:34.6. Cody's time was impacted, literally impacted, by a deer that ran into her on the course.
Kate Hannah and Isabella Smull had the sixth and seventh times for the Garnet, running in 23:49.5 and 24:11.0, respectively.
No. 1 Johns Hopkins took first in the meet with 33 points.
