GLASSBORO, N.J.—Senior
Katie Jo McMenamin captured first place at the Inter-Regional Border Battle 6K on Saturday with a time of 21:05.87, winning her second consecutive race.
No. 20 Swarthmore Women's Cross Country finished in seventh place with a team score of 169. Twenty-four teams, some of the top squads from the Mideast and Atlantic Regions, were present. The Garnet finished ahead of nationally-ranked No. 6 SUNY-Geneseo, but came in behind No. 21 RPI, No. 25 Dickinson, Rochester, No. 29 Haverford, No. 31 SUNY-Cortland and TCNJ.
McMenamin's time is a new personal best in the 6K, topping her former PR set two weeks prior by 17 seconds.
Indy Reid-Shaw was the second Garnet runner across the finish line, crossing in 14th place with a time of 21:54.31, a new PR.
Sarah Nielsen gave the Garnet 39 points with a time of 22:26.57.
Irina Bukharin ran the 6K course in 22:37.79 and
Tess Wei provided the Garnet's fifth score with a time of 22:45.23.
Swarthmore will now have two weeks to prepare for the Centennial Conference Championship on Oct. 31 in Stevenson, Md.
