Box Score

CARLISLE, Pa. – Junior Carly O'Brien scored seven goals to lead Dickinson to a 19-10 victory over the Swarthmore College women's lacrosse team on Saturday, Apr. 19 at Biddle Field.

The offenses took over during a competitive start to the contest in which neither team led by more than two goals for more than 22 minutes of action. Swarthmore held a 5-3 advantage after getting two straight unassisted tallies from sophomore Elizabeth Upton followed by a marker from classmate Lizzie Kolln at the 17:17 mark, but the Red Devils came back with six unanswered to regain the lead for good. O'Brien, who finished with a game-high nine points, netted three goals during the stretch to lead the charge.

Dickinson (9-6, CC 4-3), which led 10-6 at the break, stayed in control by scoring the first goal of the second half when sophomore Caroline Clancy finished a pass from junior Kelly Haglund. Kolln responded with a marker at the 27:42 mark to make it 11-7, but that was as close as the Garnet would come the rest of the way. Clancy later capped the scoring on a free position shot with 2:49 on the clock to give the Red Devils a nine-goal win.

Despite dropping its fifth conference game of the year, Swarthmore outshot Dickinson 30-29. The Garnet also had a 23-21 advantage in ground balls and a 16-15 edge in draw controls. Red Devil goalkeepers Tara Cuddihy and JoJo Auerbach combined for 16 saves, while Kolln scored three goals and Samantha Reichard recorded four ground balls and three caused turnovers to pace the Garnet in the losing effort.

Swarthmore (7-7, CC 2-5) will play its final home game of the 2014 season when it welcomes Washington College to Clothier Field on Wednesday, Apr. 22 at 7 p.m.
