Women's Individual ResultsNEWVILLE, Pa. - The Swarthmore College women's cross country team finished fifth overall at the NCAA Division III Mideast Regional Championship hosted by Dickinson College on Saturday.
Leading the Garnet was sophomore
Indy Reid-Shaw, who navigated the 6,000-meter course in 22:42.7 for 23rd overall. Senior
Liz Tawa (23:03.1) and junior
Sarah Nielsen (23:03.9) next crossed the line together, taking 34th and 35th places. All three-students also made the All-Mideast Region Team for placing in the top 35.
Junior
Jenna Cody clocked in at 23:17.3 (44th), and freshman
Isabel Erickson rounded out the Swarthmore top-five in 23:31.3 (54th).
Johns Hopkins placed first overall with 28 points followed by Dickinson (99) and Elizabethtown (131). 370 runners from 52 teams competed in this event.
Swarthmore will now wait to see if its resume and fifth-place finish will warrant the program's first NCAA Championship berth next weekend.
