Women's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Centennial Championships

Indy Reid-Shaw made the All-Centennial Conference Second Team.

HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Swarthmore College women's cross country team placed fourth overall at the Centennial Championships hosted by Haverford College on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Johns Hopkins won the conference title for the seventh consecutive season, outscoring Dickinson by 32 points.  Haverford placed third (86) followed by Swarthmore (99), Muhlenberg (165), Bryn Mawr (175), Gettysburg (186), Ursinus (242), Franklin & Marshall (245), and McDaniel (308).

Sophomore Indy Reid-Shaw navigated the 6,000-meter course in 22:52.8 to finish 11th overall out of 113 runners.  

Senior Liz Tawa placed next for the Garnet at 23:26.7 (22nd) followed by freshman Isabel Erickson (23:30.6, 24th), and junior Sarah Nielsen (23:40.4, 28th).  Sophomore Kate Hannah rounded out the top-five Swarthmore finishers with her 23:48.9 (31st) pace.

For her efforts, Reid-Shaw was named to the All-Centennial Conference Second Team.  

Sophia Meehan of Johns Hopkins won the individual title for the women with a 21:37.0 finish – 25 seconds quicker than the second place finisher.

Next up for the Garnet is the NCAA Mideast Regional, which will be hosted by Dickinson on November 15th.
