Emma Saarel's runner-up performance, the Swarthmore women's cross country team won the Bryn Mawr Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 7 at Rose Tree Park. The Garnet accumulated 20 points to easily finish ahead of Bryn Mawr and Cedar Crest in its first meet of the season.
Saarel navigated the 5,000-meter course in 21:11 to place second among 43 runners. Sophomore Katie McManemin, freshman

Sarah Nielsen placed third, fourth and fifth, respectively, with an identical time of 21:12. Freshman
Natalie McLaughlin completed the pack of five Swarthmore runners that finished within two seconds of each other with a sixth-place time of 21:13.
Swarthmore returns to action on Thursday, Sept. 26 when it competes at the Main Line Invitational.
